But no matter how hard the cat tries to be like Genghis Khan, he still looks funny and amusing. In this painting the cat went to the time of the Tatar-Mongol Empire. About the Artist

Alexandr Ischenko

Alexander Ischenko was born in 1958 and raised in the town Hmelnitsky, Ukraine. Already as a child, he discovered a huge passion for art and drawing, And showed his abilities and talent in the field from the young age of 5.

Throughout the years, Thanks to his great and faithful love for art, Ischenko was inspired and decided to study the field of fantasy, With an emphasis on ״OGRE”- A whole artistic world of surrealistic fantasy characters, books and games. He completed his degree at the School of Art in Hmelnitzky, and after completing his academic studies began to work and devote his life as an artist.

In 1991 Ischenko immigrated with his family to Israel and continued to paint and engage in his art, in order to develop further his art career. In 2005, Alexander decided to turn his great passion into a full-time job, and began working at the “Romi” Gallery- where he first met the complex technique of working with paper-rice, that later on he had decided to adopt for his works.

The painting technique and caricature of Ischenko is complex and unique. In his works, he uses acrylic paints on rice paper, where the uniqueness of this method is completely manually processing of the rice paper, before applying the background. The method originally came from hundreds of years ago from countries such as Vietnam, Korea and Japan, where rice paper was then used for art drawing as a primary substitute, instead of the usual paper we are familiar nowadays.

Alexander’s artistic imprint can be identified in his paintings by its influence from a comics and caricaturistic world full of imagination, combined with the world of surreal fantasy, reflecting the way Alexander views the world and life, as an artist from the depths of his soul.

His works are sold as private collections around the world in Canada, the US, Russia and throughout Europe, alongside works sold in Israel.

Currently lives and works in Israel.
